More information about Vintage Japanese Ashtray Elevated Match Holder - Vintage Ceramic

This elegant vintage piece from Japan, originally thought to be a trinket box, is actually a finely crafted ceramic ashtray with an elevated match holder. The ashtray is beautifully adorned with red and blue flowers, complemented by intricate blue and gold detailing, and topped with an iridescent raised floral lid.

With the lid on, the ashtray stands approximately 4 1/4 inches tall, and 4 inches without the lid. It measures 3 1/4 inches wide by 2 inches deep. The top "box" portion is 1 1/2 inches deep, while the bottom section, excluding the base, is purely over 1 1/2 inches.

The interior features holes for three of the legs, with the fourth leg's opening located on the bottom, likely a design feature related to its construction. The circular indentation with divots on the bottom further suggests its dual purpose as a match holder.

In outstanding condition, this piece has no chips, cracks, or blemishes, making it a rare and functional addition to any collection.
